The Shaanxi History Museum
The Shaanxi History Museum, located in Xi’an, is a national-level comprehensive history museum known as the “Pearl of the Ancient Capital and Treasure House of China.” It was established in 1991 and is the first large-scale modern museum in China. The museum houses over 1.7 million cultural relics, including famous collections of Shang-Zhou bronzes, Tang Dynasty murals, and gold and silver artifacts.
Its basic exhibition, “Ancient Civilization of Shaanxi,” showcases the development of ancient society in Shaanxi through 2,000 artifacts, highlighting the dynasties of Zhou, Qin, Han, and Tang. The museum’s architecture, designed by Zhang Jinxiu, reflects the grandeur of the Tang Dynasty and integrates traditional culture with modern technology.
